Meet Danne Todt

Founder | Precision Hair Design & Texture Specialist

For me, hair has always been less about trends and more about understanding how hair naturally moves, reacts, and lives in the real world.

Living and working in Honolulu has shaped the way I approach haircutting and texture over the years. Hawaii’s humidity changes the way hair behaves, and I’ve spent decades studying how to create hair that works naturally within that environment rather than constantly fighting against it.

My focus has gradually evolved toward softer grow-out, natural movement, lower-maintenance styling, and shapes that remain balanced even in changing humidity.

The goal is always hair that feels effortless, wearable, and personal.- Danne

A Foundation Built on Precision & Texture

At 20 years old, I began my training at the Vidal Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica and a few years later in London. I continued advanced education with Bumble University in New York, where precision cutting, shape, movement, and texture became the foundation of the way I see hair. This is also where I was introduced to the razor.

Later, the Oribe Artistic Director’s Program in Las Vegas strengthened earlier foundation coursework by showcasing larger than life styles and exaggerated misperceptions as centerpieces. I just love the concept of that!

Over time, that technical structure evolved into a more relaxed and natural approach — combining precision with softness, texture, and real-life wearability.

Rather than forcing hair into rigid shapes, I focus on understanding:

  • natural texture

  • density

  • movement

  • growth patterns

  • humidity behavior

  • long-term shape balance

I’ve always been interested in creating hair that still feels intentional weeks later, not only immediately after leaving the salon.

Honolulu lifestyle is naturally active, outdoor, and climate-driven.

Between humidity, ocean air, trade winds, UV exposure, and everyday movement, hair needs to function naturally within daily life.

That environment has deeply influenced the way I approach haircutting, texture, and overall hair design.

I’m drawn to shapes that:

  • move naturally

  • grow out softer

  • require less effort

  • work with natural texture

  • remain balanced in humidity

Many clients come to me looking for hair that feels more manageable, less overworked, and easier to live with in Hawaii’s climate.

Natural Texture, Movement & Simplicity

One of the things I value most is helping people understand and work with their natural texture rather than constantly trying to control or completely change it.

Over the years, I’ve found that hair often looks and feels best when there’s balance between structure and softness.

That can mean:

  • removing excess weight

  • creating softer movement

  • refining shape

  • reducing expansion

  • improving flow and manageability

The intention is never overly styled hair.

I’m more interested in creating hair that feels natural, modern, and sustainable over time.

Japanese Hair Straightening & Anti-Frizz Work

Part of my work has also focused on helping clients manage frizz, texture expansion, and humidity-related challenges in a healthier and more natural-looking way.

Japanese Hair Straightening and Anti-Frizz Treatments can be transformative when approached carefully and customized properly for the individual.

My approach is always conservative, texture-aware, and focused on maintaining softness and movement while improving manageability.

A Long-Term Approach to Hair

Some of my favorite client relationships are the ones that evolve gradually over time.

Hair changes with climate, lifestyle, age, texture, and daily habits, and I enjoy helping people adjust and refine their hair in ways that continue to feel natural for them.

For me, the process has never simply been about creating a hairstyle.

It’s about understanding the person, the texture, the environment, and creating hair that fits naturally into their life here in Honolulu.
